Indianapolis Health-Care Firm to Add 203 Jobs
By Jeff Swiatek
Activate Healthcare plans to triple its headquarters space on Indianapolis' Far Northside, adding up to 203 jobs in the next nine years.
The company, which provides health-care clinics serving workplaces, said Friday it will invest $656,080 to outfit a 3,400-square-foot office at 9302 N. Meridian St. The office could expand again next year, Activate said.
The company currently has 110 employees who support its 22 on-site primary-care clinics throughout the Midwest, including 18 clinics in Indiana serving more than 40,000 patients.
"Indiana is where we started, and Indiana is where we want to grow," said Peter Dunn, Activate's principal.
Founded by Dunn and Debra Geihsler in 2010, Activate plans to expand into Wisconsin, Ohio, Michigan and Illinois.
The Indiana Economic Development Corp. said it will give Activate up to $3.9 million in tax credits and up to $200,000 in training grants if the company creates the 203 new jobs.
"Indiana has emerged as a magnet for the home bases of life science and health-care-related companies," said Lt. Gov. Sue Ellspermann, who appeared with company officials at the expansion announcement. "These developing industries are making Indiana a home of innovation, with companies like Activate Healthcare choosing to locate their headquarters here."
